Kate Abegg
FounderThe composure that steadies a leader through a crisis is something Kate learned where there was no margin for error — because lives depended on it. She began her career as a critical-care trauma nurse before moving into emergency medical transport, first by ambulance, then by helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft, making split-second decisions with people's survival on the line. Those years sharpened the skills she relies on today: sound judgment under pressure, rapid assessment of complex situations, and the discipline to act decisively when the stakes are highest.
She carried that instinct into business, holding several leadership roles before moving into defense contracting, where she joined an early-stage firm founded by two partners. Through strong performance she rose in title and earned equity in the business, ultimately leading it as chief executive and growing it into a thriving, woman-owned company — building out its operations, strategy, and program management as it delivered engineering and tactical-communications work for the U.S. Department of Defense.
Coritas Strategies brings that experience full circle. Kate holds a Master of Science in Emergency and Disaster Health Systems and a Certificate in Emergency Management, and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Cybersecurity at UMBC's College of Engineering and Information Technology, where her work increasingly centers on where cybersecurity meets public policy. She works with leaders navigating difficulty who want to emerge with clearer purpose — because resilience, properly understood, is direction.
